A Cinematic Reminder

daytheearthstoodstillposterNot that anyone would forget, but I just wanted to remind you that tomorrow is the day - The Day the Earth Stood Still – ha! Seriously though, it’s the day the new version will be opening in theaters. I am so looking forward to seeing this film. I haven’t seen the original version yet, but I have found it online - (watch it here) – and I intend to watch it before I see the new one.

Summary of the 1951 version: An alien (Klaatu) with his mighty robot (Gort) land their spacecraft on Cold War-era Earth just after the end of World War II. They bring an important message to the planet that Klaatu wishes to tell to representatives of all nations. However, communication turns out to be difficult, so, after learning something about the natives, Klaatu decides on an alternative approach.

Star Trek Movie Trailer

Pssst! Guess what? Lucky us! Someone leaked the new Star Trek movie trailer and it's now up on YouTube, so I am embedding it here. Looks pretty darn good, too, if you ask me - but I'm a Trekkie through and through, so I'm a little biased. Be sure you watch it before "they" make YouTube take it down! Don't ask me who "they" are. Shh!

EDIT: Seems the real trailers have now been released, and you can watch them in HD. AND THEY ARE SO AWESOME!! (Much better than the bootleg above).

Could There Be Another X-Files Movie?

Looks like writer/producer Frank Spotnitz is mulling over the idea of a third X-Files movie. Being a huge X-Files fan, I certainly hope this happens.

Spotnitz says that even though he is working on some very hush-hush TV projects right now, that he would welcome a third big screen X-Files movie. However 20th Century Fox hasn’t gotten back to them on that score yet. The producer is the first one to be upfront about the “disappointing” box office of this summer’s X-Files: I Want to Believe. “We opened a week after The Dark Knight and got mowed down by it,” he says. “No one knew what a huge historical event it would be.”

Jason's Back | Watch the Friday the 13th (2009) Trailer

Yes folks, our favorite horror movie villain, Jason Voorhees returns to the big screen on Friday, February 13th, 2009. This is good news to us horror movie fans. In this one, Whitney (Amanda Righetti), Clay (Jared Padalecki), Mike (Nick Mennell), Jenna (Danielle Panabaker), Trent (Travis VanWinkle) and other young adults end up exploring the old Camp Crystal Lake (made famous by the original 1980 film). Soon enough however their seemingly fun weekend turns into a nightmare when each one finds themselves hunted down by a machete wielding maniac known as Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears). -- IMDB

Twilight Comes To Theaters November 21st | Trailer

Twilight will be showing in theaters next week, and I am so excited. It's been a long time since we had a good vampire movie to go see. This one looks just delicious too! If you're into vampires, get out and see this one! Check out the Twilight IMDB page or the Official Twilight Movie Website for more information.

Official Twilight Trailer:

Full synopsis from IMDB:

Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a bit different, never caring about or fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother Renee (Sarah Clarke) remarries and decides to move with her new husband to Florida, and Bella decides to go live with her father, Charlie (Billy Burke), in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she's ever met. Intelligent and witty, his piercing eyes see straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than any cheetah, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Most importantly, he's a vampire. Like all vampires, he's immortal. He doesn't drink human blood (they're vampire "vegetarians"), which is rare among the vampire population. Instead, they go on regular "hiking" trips, where they feed on prey such as grizzly bears and mountain lions. For Edward, Bella is the thing he has waited ninety years for - a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. And what will they do when James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi), and Victoria (Rachel Lefevre) come into town and James sets his sights on Bella? Will true love prevail when Edward is forced to save her life and conquer his thirst? The true question is, When you can live forever, what do you live for?

"The Bourne Ultimatum" Wins Two Sound Editor Honors

It was nice to see that the sound editing team from "The Bourne Ultimatum" won two awards in the feature film categories Saturday evening at the Motion Picture Sound Editors 55th Anniversary Golden Reel Awards. The film won the categories for dialogue and ADR, and sound effects and Foley. It thought all the "Bourne" movies were excellent, and I hope this won't be the last one. Matt Damon is one heck of an actor and I would love to see him reprise the role of Jason Bourne once again. But even if he doesn't, I'm sure we'll see him again very soon in something equally as exciting as the "Bourne" films.
